It’s interesting how you could be a thousand miles away from your daily life and daily routine, and yet as you immerse yourself in a whole different scenery, your mind takes you back to the ones you’ve left behind and how you wish that they could be there to see the things you’re seeing, hear the sounds that dance all around you, and draw in the scent that tickle your nose and trigger the release of serotonin in your body. And then that gentle nudging and realization that no photos, no videos, no souvenirs would ever equal being there, and the only thing you want in that very moment is to take a piece, wrap it tightly, put it in your pocket, and store it safely to be brought back for them.
But of course, it doesn’t work that way. So you make a silent promise to yourself - the next time you go back, you won’t be going back alone.
